FAQs

Do you take insurance?

I do not directly accept insurance. However, you will be provided with a superbill, which allows you to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider.

How do I pay for sessions?

All sessions are paid for out of pocket at the time of service. Depending on your insurance benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company. It's advisable to check with your insurance provider beforehand to understand your coverage and reimbursement process specifics.

I’m not in a crisis. Can I still benefit from therapy?

Absolutely! Therapy is not solely for individuals in crisis; it can also immensely benefit personal growth, self-awareness, and overall well-being. Even if you're not in crisis, therapy can provide a supportive environment to explore and address issues, enhance coping strategies, improve communication skills, and gain insight into yourself and your relationships. Many people find therapy helpful for navigating life transitions, improving self-esteem, managing stress, and fostering personal development.

When will I be done with therapy?

The conclusion of therapy is typically determined collaboratively between the client and therapist and can vary depending on individual goals, progress, and needs. Generally, therapy concludes when the client feels they have achieved their desired outcomes, developed effective coping strategies, and gained sufficient insight and skills to manage challenges independently.

What’s a session like?

While each person needs different things, here is a brief generalization of what to expect during sessions.

  1. Welcoming and Grounding (if needed/wanted): The therapist invites you to settle into the space, perhaps with a few deep breaths or a grounding exercise to help you become present.

  2. Check-in: The therapist invites you to share how you've been since the last session, any updates or changes in your life, and any thoughts or feelings you'd like to explore today.

  3. Introduction of IFS and AEDP Concepts (first session): The therapist may briefly explain the basic principles and concepts of IFS and AEDP if you're new to these approaches or if it's relevant to the session's focus.

  4. Internal Family Systems Work (if advised): In an IFS-informed session, the therapist may guide you in exploring different parts of yourself, such as the "exiles" (vulnerable or wounded parts) and the "protectors" (parts that try to keep you safe). You may engage in internal dialogue or imagery to better connect with and understand these parts.

  5. AEDP Interventions (if advised): Using AEDP techniques, the therapist may create a secure therapeutic relationship characterized by safety, attunement, and empathy. They may encourage you to explore and process emotions in the session, perhaps through experiential exercises, imagery, or somatic (body-focused) techniques.

  6. Integration: The therapist helps you integrate insights and experiences gained during the session, connecting them to your therapeutic goals and personal growth.

  7. Reflection and Summary: Towards the end of the session, the therapist and you reflect on the work done and the insights gained. They may summarize key points and validate your experiences.

  8. Follow-up: Depending on your needs and goals, the therapist may suggest practices to integrate the session's insights into your daily life or prepare for the next session.

  9. Closing: The session concludes with a brief discussion of scheduling for future appointments and any closing remarks.

Throughout the session, the therapist maintains a compassionate and non-judgmental stance, providing support and guidance as you explore and process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The emphasis is on fostering self-awareness, healing emotional wounds, and promoting personal growth and transformation.
